Overview
This position has been filled for the 2024 SFFILM Festival.
SFFILM’s Education department is seeking a motivated candidate with an interest in education and film/media to support K-12 programming. Our Education team serves more than 15,000 students and teachers every year, from kindergarten through college, to develop media literacy, cultural awareness, global understanding and a lifelong appreciation of cinema. SFFILM Education aims to cultivate students’ imaginations, prepare them for filmmaking careers, and empower them to succeed in a media-saturated world.
The Education Coordinator position reports to the Director of Education and supports the Education Manager in all areas of program tracking and amplification, as well as managing and executing Festival filmmaker school visits. Films are selected to support the curriculum of a range of grade levels and subject areas, and all visits are interactive experiences with opportunities for students to engage with filmmakers, industry professionals, and subject area specialists in post-screening discussions and Q&As. Visits also allow the artists the opportunity to gain valuable feedback from younger audiences.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with students, families, and educators, and an affinity for outreach strategies. This role will require a comfort with written outreach initiatives to educators and families, while bringing strong attention to detail and interest in inspiring young students through filmmaker visits and in-person school day screenings.
This is a seasonal position with a start date of February 19, 2024 and an end date of May 9, 2024. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week and is paid hourly at the rate of $22 per hour. Application review begins January 22 but will be rolling after that.
