SFFILM
San Francisco, CA – SFFILM has announced the date and venue for SFFILM Awards Night (formerly Film Society Awards Night), its annual fundraising celebration honoring achievement in filmmaking craft. The 2018 edition of this glamorous dinner event and awards presentation will take place the evening of Monday, December 3 at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts.
One of San Francisco’s most highly anticipated film events and social gatherings, SFFILM Awards Night returns to its new position in the city’s fall calendar after a wildly successful move in 2017, leveraging the Bay Area’s increasing awards season relevance and amplifying the region’s voice in the end-of-year film conversation. The program will recognize the storied careers of some of the best and brightest in contemporary cinema with special onstage tributes.
SFFILM Awards Night will be taking place in the Exhibition Center at the Palace of Fine Arts, the recently renovated, spacious and dynamic event space managed by Non Plus Ultra, San Francisco’s premiere events management company.
SFFILM’s prestigious awards include the Irving M. Levin Directing Award, the Peter J. Owens Acting Award, and the Kanbar Storytelling Award, and will be expanded to include new honors at this year’s event. SFFILM honorees throughout the years have included Robert Altman, Kathryn Bigelow, Ellen Burstyn, Frances Ford Coppola, Judy Davis, Guillermo del Toro, Harrison Ford, Richard Gere, Emily V. Gordon & Kumail Nanjiani, Abbas Kiarostami, Spike Lee, Richard Linklater, Mira Nair, James Schamus, Robin Williams, and Kate Winslet, among many others.
The 2018 SFFILM Awards Night honorees will be announced in the coming months, along with additional detail regarding the evening’s program. This year’s event will be co-chaired by SFFILM Board members Heidi Fisher and Sonya Yu. Proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit SFFILM’s impactful year-round programs in next-gen media education.
