Description

Sesame Street, the ubiquitous show widely considered the benchmark for children’s television, has a fascinating origin story. A small cohort of dedicated, inventive, and legendary creatives firmly believed children – particularly inner-city children – deserved educational and entertaining television. Archival footage, period interviews, and current commentary from the titans who brought this show to life capture their determination and ingenuity. Featuring the original series director Jon Stone, Muppets creator Jim Henson, and savvy television executive Joan Ganz Cooney, this humorous, fast-paced documentary explores how this program continues to inspire audiences today. Recommended for ages 11 and up.
