Description

Rita Moreno is unique, an EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony winner) still going strong more than 70 years after her screen debut. Film clips galore unreel as Moreno shares an incredible life in show business that began at 14. Moreno’s story of overcoming sexism and racism will resonate with all women, while footage from her Oscar-winning turn in West Side Story, her cinematic reprisal of her Tony-winning role in The Ritz, television roles on Oz and One Day at a Time, and more will leave the audience cheering. Recommended for ages 13 and up.

Director Mariem Pérez Riera

At nine, Mariem Pérez Riera won the lead in the film The Two Worlds of Angelita (1983). The experience convinced her that she did not want to be an actor, but she did want to be a director. She is, in fact, a director, producer, editor, and writer. Her work includes Lovesickness (2007), the TV series Chamacas (2013), and the documentaries Croatto, la hulia de un emigrante (2016), and De Puerto Rico para el Mundo (2016).
