Director Betsy West, Julie Cohen

Julie Cohen is an Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker who has worked as a producer for Dateline NBC. She also produced and directed Pedro Ruiz: Coming Home (2011); Ndiphilela Ukucula: I Live to Sing (2013); Best of the Fest winner at the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, The Sturgeon Queens (2014); and American Veteran (2017).

Betsy West began her career as a television reporter in Syracuse, NY, before she became a producer for ABC’s Nightline and the co-creator and executive producer of the series Turning Point. For her work at ABC, she received 21 Emmy Awards. From 1998-2005, she was a senior vice president at CBS News. She was nominated for an Emmy and a FOCAL International Award for Makers: Women Who Make America (2013). RBG marks her directing debut.
