Description

Morgan Neville, who charmed SFFILM Festival audiences this spring with his look at Mr. Rogers and his neighborhood, now playfully takes on the story of Orson Welles’s last production, The Other Side of the Wind, a semi-mythological cinematic experiment, posthumously completed and receiving its first public release this year. Neville eschews scholars and critics and lets those who knew and worked with the mercurial filmmaker tell the story of “the greatest movie never released.” The result is as lively and inventive as the work of the master it reveals.

“What’s great about They’ll Love Me When I’m Dead is that it’s got virtually everybody who had anything important to do with Other Side of the Wind under one roof, from the stars to the loyal Welles-worshipping youngsters to the literal hangers-on who rode dangerously on the backs of speeding cars to get shots.” —Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter

“…it says more about the man behind it than any documentary to date, cut together with such a supreme understanding and care for its subject that director Morgan Neville (Twenty Feet from Stardom) seems half-justified in suggesting that his project may as well be the missing film.” —Peter Debruge, Variety
