Description
David Ki (Alex Lam) is an internationally ranked outdoor climber with his sights set on further glory when a freeway accident leaves him without the use of both legs. As he and his wife navigate medical and judicial systems with baroque rules, he also trains himself to climb in his wheelchair with the eventual goal of climbing the eponymous landmark. Based on a real-life story, Nick Leung’s rousing film expertly details David’s past glories, romantic connections, and physical struggles to re-master the sport he loves.

Ticket-buyers for this event will be sent a link via email to a faintly watermarked online screener of Lion Rock, which will be viewable between July 22–30.
All registrants will also be sent a link via email to register for the online Q&A, which will be conducted with Zoom. We recommend that you download and install Zoom on your computer or mobile device in advance, and set yourself up with a free account. Attendees will have a chance to participate in the Q&A with a text chat function. Registration closes around one hour before the start of the event — be sure to register early!

After working in the realm of Hong Kong television, Nick Leung made his feature debut in 2015 with the playful horror-comedy and social satire Get Outta Here. He follows that film with Lion Rock, for which he received a best director nomination at the Hong Kong Film Awards.
