Description

Ultramarathon swimmer Patti Bauernfeind has conquered the English Channel, Cook Strait, and Monterey Bay, finding inspiration for these physically demanding swims through various social causes. As she trains to cross Loch Ness in Scotland, her motivation takes a personal and transformative turn in this inspiring and intimate short documentary from Bay Area filmmaker Sean Gillane.
 
Join us following the screening for an in-depth conversation with director Sean Gillane, subject Patti Bauernfeind, and producer Chris Hall as they discuss the challenges and triumphs in crafting this short film.
 
Members who RSVP for this event will be sent a link via email one day in advance to register for the online session, which will be conducted with Zoom. We recommend that you download and install Zoom on your computer or mobile device in advance, and set yourself up with a free account. Attendees will have a chance to participate in the Q&A with a text chat function.

Director Sean Gillane

Sean Gillane has worked on films that have taken him around the world to locations in The West Bank and Guatemala as well as to dark editing suites for months on end. Sean has acted as an editor and/or producer on narrative feature films including Advantageous (Sundance Jury Award Winner), Man From Reno (LAFF Jury Award Winner), and Ghostbox Cowboy (Denver Film Festival Best American Film Winner) as well as the feature documentary Parque Central, now streaming on MeansTV. Loch Ness Swim is his return to directing following the narrative feature CXL (Cinema by the Bay 2012).
