Description

The complex relationship between employer and employee is explored with great nuance in the story of Jae-bok, a man who has spent years protesting layoffs from a furniture conglomerate. When he re-enters the workforce as a middle-aged man, befriending a younger co-worker helps him cope with the modernization of work forces. When Jae-bok witnesses an on-site accident, he confronts his boss (also a friend) over the matter with complicated results. Beautifully told, this story captures the inflection point between dissent and organized protests.

Lee Ran-hee is an actor and director whose work includes the shorts A Perm (2010) and A Night before the Wedding (2014). A Leave is her first feature.
