Ongoing Work
SFFILM believes that filmmaking and film-loving are for everyone. We are committed to providing accessible experiences at all of our events whether in-person or online, supporting filmmakers with disabilities in telling their stories, and advocating for accessibility advancements within our industry at large.
We work throughout the year with our virtual platforms, screening and event venues, and with the disability community, to continually improve our attendee experience. In 2018, SFFILM established a Disability Advisory Board to consult with our staff, consisting of members of the disability community with a passion for film and an interest in helping make the Bay Area’s world-class film events accessible to all.
SFFILM’s accessibility initiatives include increasing access to closed captioning and audio descriptions online and in-person, accessibility of historic venues, and support to filmmakers with disabilities.
If you would like to learn more about accessibility at SFFILM or need accommodations, please contact ADA@SFFilm.org.
We are grateful to the SFFILM Disability Advisory Board members who have been active partners in shaping SFFILM’s accessibility initiatives since 2019.
