Doc Congress is SFFILM’s gathering of documentary funders, filmmakers, and distributors to network and discuss the most prevailing topics of the non-fiction funding landscape. This year’s event features a keynote from Lois Vossen, the founding Executive Producer of Independent Lens at ITVS.

This event is part of Doc Stories, SFFILM’s premier documentary festival celebrating many of the year’s most important nonfiction works. Your invitation is non-transferable. Admission is on a space-available basis. Venue is 21+ and ADA accessible. Parking is available in the surrounding neighborhoods. To request ADA parking, please email ADA@SFFilm.org.
Lois Vossen, founding executive producer of INDEPENDENT LENS on PBS and YouTube, leads the programming of 20-25 original documentary projects each season. Awarded Best Series by the IDA six times, INDEPENDENT LENS films like I Am Not Your Negro, Philly DA, Newtown, Tower , and The Invisible War have received 75+ Emmy, Peabody and duPont Awards, and 10 Academy Award nominations. Vossen was inducted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle, and honored as Nonprofit Leader of the Year (Anthem Awards). She served on the Television Academy Board of Governors, is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and a juror for DOC New Zealand, Toronto International Film Festival, Shanghai International Festival, SXSW, Palm Springs Film Festival, and others. Prior to ITVS, Vossen was Associate Managing Director of the Sundance Film Festival and Sundance Labs.
