San Francisco, CA – The San Francisco Film Society’s Education department presents the sixth annual College Days program at the 58th San Francisco International Film Festival (April 23-May 7) as part of its year-round Colleges & Universities program. This specially curated three-day series (May 1-3) includes screenings of five Festival films (Advantageous, Beats of the Antonov, Bota, Deep Web and Western) and Q&As with filmmaker guests. Screenings and discussions will take place at Sundance Kabuki Cinemas.
The course is offered during the 2015 spring semester at San Francisco State University and was designed around the College Days program. The one-unit class entitled “Bay Area Film Culture” is taught by professor Aaron Kerner. A limited number of tickets are available for additional select college students for $45 per person. Faculty members may participate if they are attending with their students. Tickets may only be purchased through the SFFS Education office by contacting education@sffs.org or 415-561-5042. SFIFF College Days tickets cannot be purchased through the regular Festival box office.
The Colleges & Universities program is run by the Film Society’s Education department and is designed to support and encourage students as they prepare to transition from the academic arena to the professional world. Offering an array of creative, educational, social, and professional opportunities, it is a valuable bridge that connects and engages students with the Film Society and the Bay Area filmmaking community. Funding for the program is provided by RBC Foundation.
