SFFILM Festival

A Pixar Shorts Celebration

Description

For more than 30 years, Pixar has been delighting audiences around the world with their films. The studio began its first ventures in storytelling through film with short films and commercials. Starting with Luxo Jr., shorts have allowed them to tell stories in different ways than their feature films, but often with just as much emotional impact. Innovative storytelling has always been at the core of Pixar’s foundation, and their shorts allow them the freedom to experiment and develop both new ways to tell stories and new technologies. They also provide a way to cultivate the next generation of storytellers at the studio, letting individuals work on smaller teams and often hold leadership positions for the first time.

Join us for a special screening of some of their most celebrated shorts over the years, including the most recent addition, Bao. The program will kick off with a special introduction by Bao‘s director Domee Shi and producer Becky Neiman-Cobb, and will be followed by a Q&A with Domee, Becky, and other soon-to-be-announced special guests. This exciting event is perfect for families, animation aficionados, aspiring animation professionals, and fans of great storytelling. Be sure to stick around afterwards for a meet-and-greet session, to snag autographs and talk more with all of our guest filmmakers.

This presentation is part of SFFILM Education’s newly expanded Family Programming.
