At 15, John Lopez is “too Mexican," for his old private school and “too white” at his new public high school. When John meets Sandra, a militant Chicana activist, he struggles to impress her, and so becomes “Juan, Super Woke Latino."

Charlotte Gutierrez is a Queer Mexican-American comedic screenwriter and filmmaker. She has screened at film festivals internationally including Frameline, Intersection for the Arts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and MIX Brazil. She has been named as one of the nation’s emerging Latina filmmakers by the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), worked as a production assistant on the Oscar-nominated Weather Underground, and guest curated films for the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and for Cine Accion’s Festival Cine Latino.
