2025 Film Festival Spotlight

THE HORROR!

SFFILM recognizes that there’s a lot to be frightened of right now, so we’re excited to scream in the dark with you at this five-film retrospective (plus one new documentary). Come to our special free outdoor screening under any weather to see John Carpenter’s 1980 thriller The Fog. Or revisit his 1988 cult classic They Live (sadly, quite relevant to present-day circumstances). If classic slashers are just your cup of tea, check out Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), celebrating 50 years of scaring the bejesus out of everyone , and companion piece Chain Reactions (2024), where five artists discuss the impact this film has had on their lives and craft. For those more classically minded, don’t miss Herk Harvey’s 1962 classic Carnival of Souls or the modern horror classic The Babadook (2014) from director Jennifer Kent.
