Director/Producer/Writer Ruth Gebreyesus

Ruth Gebreyesus is a writer, editor, and producer based in the Bay Area. Her work centers cultural products and their movement across physical and digital margins. Her writing can be found in The Guardian, SSENSE, The Fader and KQED. Gebreyesus has presented on memes and black digital production at the Oakland Museum of California and at the New Museum in New York. She currently serves as a co-curator of Black Life, a multidisciplinary event series at the Berkeley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive. She also hosts an irregular chat show on internet radio station Lower Grand Radio.

Producer/DP/Editor Theo Schear

Theo Schear is a filmmaker from Oakland, California. He shoots for the Golden State Warriors, and has produced campaigns for Nike and Bandcamp, and a Brita commercial featuring Stephen Curry. His journalistic work has appeared in publications such as Juxtapoz, SFMOMA’s Open Space, Film Threat, and Deadspin. Schear was a member of Detroit Public Television’s National Documentary Unit, where he served as Media Producer for the Detroit Journalism Cooperative. His work includes Open Letter, a found-footage doc about Frank Ocean; and The ReDream Project, which earned a Mid-America Emmy.
