San Francisco, CA — SFFILM is re-launching the SFFILM Screening Room, a curated film streaming service available to SFFILM members through an innovative web platform and a mobile app on the occasion of the 60th San Francisco International Film Festival. More than ten feature films from the Festival lineup will be made available on the service after their public screenings, and will remain available for streaming through May 30. More films will be added to the service each month. The SFFILM mobile app, available on iOS and Android devices beginning March 15, provides access to SFFILM Screening Room content on the go as well as helpful tools to stay up to date on year-round SFFILM screenings and events.
The SFFILM Screening Room service is available exclusively to SFFILM members on the web at sffilm.org/watch. Members can also access streaming content by downloading the SFFILM app and logging into their membership accounts. The SFFILM app is available for iOS, Apple TV, and Android devices as a free download on iTunes or Google Play. The web platform and app have been created with the generous support of Margaret and Will Hearst.
“With more than 180 films showing at this year’s Festival, it’s hard for one individual, no matter how ardent a fan, to attend all the screenings,” said Noah Cowan, Executive Director of SFFILM. “The SFFILM Screening Room will make it more convenient for our members to enjoy highly curated global cinema. Many of these films will not be returning to theaters, nor will they be readily available on traditional streaming services. New monthly content on the SFFILM Screening Room makes SFFILM membership even more valuable.”
New content will be made available on the SFFILM Screening Room throughout the year, with the addition of up to five new titles each month. The offerings will feature films from the SFFILM Festival and other year-round series, SFFILM-supported projects, and hits from the international festival circuit selected by the SFFILM curatorial staff. Films will be available on the Screening Room for a limited time. Members will be notified of new films online and in SFFILM’s weekly email newsletter.
The SFFILM Screening Room is an additional benefit of SFFILM membership, which starts at $70 per year. Other year-round member benefits include early access and discounts for all SFFILM public events, private members-only screening opportunities, invitations to exclusive member preview events, and more.
Films from the SFFILM Festival will be available on the screening room once they have had their final public screening, subject to approval by their directors. An estimated 10-15 feature-length Festival films will be available; the full lineup of content will be announced in the weeks to come. To learn more, visit sffilm.org/watch. To download the app, search for SFFILM on iTunes, Apple TV or Google Play.
