SFFILM Presents A24’s Club Kid with 35MM Pre-Release Screening at San Francisco’s Castro Theatre
Writer, Director, and Star Jordan Firstman will appear in person for a post-screening conversation

San Francisco, CA—September 22, 2026—Today, SFFILM announced the next special event of its fall film season: Jordan Firstman’s Club Kid. The talk of the Cannes Film Festival, Club Kid was acquired by A24 following its premiere. The film follows Peter, (Firstman), a hard-partying New York City club promoter whose whirlwind lifestyle is upended by the arrival of the 10-year-old son he never knew he had. SFFILM will present the film on a 35mm print on Monday, November 2, at 7:00 pm at The Castro Theatre, with Firstman appearing in person for a post-screening conversation about the film.
Anne Lai, SFFILM’s Executive Director said, “One of the most exciting things we do at SFFILM is to introduce bold new filmmakers to eager and welcoming audiences. There is not a more fitting place than the iconic Castro Theatre to welcome Jordan Firstman with his feature directorial debut. For decades, gathering to see movies at The Castro has been at the heart of San Francisco’s queer culture and history. We can’t wait to share Club Kid at this cinema sanctuary for what’s sure to become one for the ages.”
“Club Kid is an exhilarating introduction to Jordan Firstman as a filmmaker, with a world that feels completely specific and wonderfully alive,” said Jessie Fairbanks, SFFILM’s Director of Programming. “The anarchic humor, incredible ensemble, and unexpected tenderness make this a distinctive film, elevated by needle drops that are thrillingly precise to the characters, culture, and emotional landscape of the story. Bay Area audiences will be treated to a 35mm print, a rare and special way to experience a night at the movies.”
SFFILM Presents is the place for singular films and thoughtful, entertaining on-stage conversations with world-class talent moderated by SFFILM’s programming experts. Special events run throughout the fall with the next program announcement set for September 30. SFFILM and the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco will host a 50th concert anniversary screening of Martin Scorsese’s The Last Waltz on October 21. The 12th Doc Stories, SFFILM’s annual fall festival featuring the year’s most vital nonfiction films, runs November 5–8. That program will be announced on October 14.
