Program Description

Join us on the campus of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in the beautiful Barbro Osher Recital Hall as SFFILM and SFCM-TAC celebrate the inaugural Sound and Cinema Fellowship. This special evening will showcase the SF Bay Area filmmaking fellows and their projects along with the SFCM students who composed original music and sound mixes. After the films screen, there will be a Q&A with the participants.

Films are in alphabetical order rather than order of play. Total runtime 60 min.

Along Away

As Oakland students bring a powerful play to life, AMERICA, WE BEG YOUR PARDON documents their journey of embodying the children of Black Panther Party members—interweaving history, intergenerational conversations, and the prophetic poetry of Gil Scott-Heron to illuminate the often-overlooked role of women and children in liberation movements. SFCM team includes Jonathan Bingham (Principal Composer), Caroline Feitosa (Lead Sound) and Misc. Students (Orchestrators).

A mother and her teen daughter flow in and out of harmony on a road trip that charts an emotional turning point in their lives. SFCM team includes Ryan Camastral (Principal Composer, Rafe Axne (composer), Clark Evans (composer) and Theo Popov (Sound Crew).

Steven Raven Liang (USA 2025, 11 min)
Oscar Rodriguez, a former juvenile lifer, dreams of becoming a dog trainer when he earns his freedom after serving over two decades behind bars. When the fantasy of liberty clashes with the reality of free world responsibilities, he wonders whether he can succeed and honor those he left behind. SFCM team includes Dimitris Mathiopoulos (Principal Composer), Chong Li (Lead Sound) and Wilka Wang (Additional Sound).
