Guests Expected

Director Sarah Jones and producers Julie Parker Benello and David Goldblum are expected to attend.

Description

Tony Award®-winning performer and playwright Sarah Jones transforms her solo show into a richly empathetic hybrid documentary in which she investigates the lives of sex workers. It is a project fraught with unavoidable controversy as some of her subjects take umbrage at an outsider presuming to tell their stories. But Jones overcomes objections through the force of her compassion, humor, and openness in a film that combines documentary interviews with scripted scenes and delves into not just sex work, but the issues surrounding it, including sex trafficking and decriminalization. And while Jones is in every scene, she allows her subjects to take the lead and introduce us to the reality of their lives. Meryl Streep and Rashida Jones are among the executive producers of this provocative and enlightening work.

Director Sarah Jones

A writer, performer, and now a filmmaker, Sarah Jones won Obie and Tony® awards for her one-woman show Bridge & Tunnel, first performed Off-Broadway in 2004. She has been a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, performed for the Obama White House, and her TED Talks have attracted nearly six million views. Sell/Buy/Date (2022) is her debut film and the first feature of the social justice-focused company she recently founded, Foment Productions.
