Online Q&A: “Over the Moon” with Director Glen Keane and Special Guests
Biographies
A 38-year veteran of Walt Disney Feature Animation, Glen Keane trained under Walt Disney’s Nine Old Men. Keane went on to create many beloved Disney characters such as the Little Mermaid, Aladdin, the Beast, Tarzan, and Rapunzel. In 2012, Keane departed Disney to begin Glen Keane Productions as a way to further his artistic explorations in animation, design, and film. He has since gone on to collaborate with Google and the Paris Ballet. He recently directed and animated the Academy Award-winning animated film Dear Basketball, in collaboration with legends Kobe Bryant and John Williams.
Cathy Ang is a Chinese-Filipina actor and singer. She began musical theatre in college, and has always dreamed of working in animation. Some of her favorite animated movies are Mulan, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Inside Out. She’s also a die-hard Steven Universe and Adventure Time fan. She is incredibly proud and thankful to be part of Over the Moon. She is fascinated by space, but sadly lacks Fei Fei’s aerospace engineering skills. Instead, Cathy is a huge sci-fi enthusiast. She’s also a music nerd, loves being around water, and would cook for her friends every day if someone washed the dishes for her. Cathy was last seen playing Claire in Maybe Happy Ending at Alliance Theatre. She is also a member of Michael Arden’s new socially-distanced immersive theatre company, The Forest of Arden. Other credits include KPOP (Ars Nova), The Undesirables (Eugene O’Neill), Riot Antigone (La MaMa), and We Are the Tigers (Theatre 80).
Gennie Rim is an Emmy award-winning producer whose career in animation spans 20+ years. She has worked at Pixar and Disney on various films such as The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille, and Up. After leaving Disney, she produced several independent and commercial projects including the Academy Award-winning animated short Dear Basketball with Glen Keane and the late Kobe Bryant. Gennie is currently executive producing the animated preschool series Trash Truck for Netflix and the feature animated musical adventure Over the Moon alongside director Glen Keane.
Peilin Chou is a Producer for Netflix Animation whose career in content creation spans 20+ years encompassing the realms of film, television, and theater. As Chief Creative Officer of Pearl Studio, Peilin produced Pearl Studio’s first original film Abominable, a co-production with DreamWorks Animation, which opened at #1 at the US box office in 2019. Peilin started her career at the Walt Disney Studios where she was part of the creative development team that oversaw dozens of feature films projects, of which two of her favorites are Mulan and Romy & Michele’s High School Reunion. Most recently, Peilin produced Over the Moon, an animated musical feature co-production with Pearl Studio and Netflix.
