Last year, we joined forces with our friends from THE THING Quarterly to present an illustrated evening of live storytelling heralding the unheralded: those details that linger in the backgrounds of movies. Whether delightful, confusing, or clarifying, these objects of our guests’ attentions inspired digressions and theories that were thought provoking and often hilarious from storytellers such as Mystery Show host Starlee Kine, Adventure Time animator Elizabeth Ito, and artists collective Will Brown. So of course we had to do it all again. Our presenters—including Thao Nguyen and other special guests—will once again take us down a magical rabbit hole of cinephilic exploration.

Presented in collaboration with our friends at THE THING Quarterly, More THINGs in Film is an evening of live storytelling about objects in films by the people who are fascinated by them. Guests such as writer, artist and the former creative director of McSweeney’s, Brian McMullen, the fabulous Oakland based art collective Bonanza, and Headlands Director of Programs Sean Uyehara will spend the evening heralding the unheralded: those details that linger in the backgrounds of movies. Whether delightful, confusing, or clarifying, these objects of our guests’ attentions will inspire digressions and theories that are thought provoking and often hilarious. The evening will be MC’d by our favorite host of hosts Scott Vermeer and his musical sidekick Nick Stargu.
