Description

Tween gymnast Tinja finds the perfect coping mechanism for dealing with her demanding mother in caring for a large, mysterious egg. She hides it away and keeps it warm, and in return it soothes her. But the trouble with eggs? They hatch. With a triumphant performance from Siiri Solalinna as Tinja and frankly unnerving special effects, Hatching is part body horror, part creature feature, part cautionary tale. Think hard about what you wish for — getting what you want might not be all it’s cracked up to be.

Director Hanna Bergholm

Hanna Bergholm makes her feature directing debut with Hatching (2022). A graduate of the University of Art and Design Helsinki, her short films include Gorilla (2009) and Puppet Master (2018). She also wrote and directed 10 episodes of Reeta ja Ronja (2009-2010), a Finnish TV series.
