FilmHouse Talk: Sustainable Filmmaking

What does it mean to produce a film with as few greenhouse gas emissions as possible? How can filmmakers account for the environmental costs of their productions? Why should they? Join Bay Area filmmaker Henry Kinder for a screening of his new short film, The Edge of the Light, followed by a discussion of his learnings from trying to tell a story about the climate crisis that isn’t actively contributing to the problem. The presentation will cover questions of how to holistically plan for a low-carbon film, how to track emissions, and where to prioritize efforts when resources are (inevitably) stretched thin.

About The Film

As a thick blanket of ash from a nearby wildfire settles over the Bay Area, Colin, 11, slips out of the house to track down the family dog, Charley, who has vanished into the night.
