Description

Join us for a staged reading of Osinachi Ibe’s feature script, Karolina and Udochi Dance in the Woods at Dusk!.

Karolina and Udochi Dance in the Woods at Dusk! is a surreal, romantic drama about two childhood best friends who fall in love with each other during their first summer apart. On the eve of Udochi’s summer trip to Nigeria, lifelong best friends, 19-year-old Karolina and 18-year-old Udochi, share an intimate moment that reveals a deeper longing between them. As their feelings intensify, they fear risking their friendship by exploring their growing passion. Now, 8,000 miles apart, they experience a romantic awakening that changes them forever.

The project is the recipient of the 2024 SFFILM Rainin Grant and the Sundance Uprise Grant Fund. It was developed in SFFILM’s FilmHouse Residency and Headlands Centers for the Arts’s Artist in Residence program.

The table read will feature: Ashante Ford, Emmanuel Nwandu, Tajianna Okechukwu, and Patrice Binaisa. Producers Megan Carlson and Thomas Ethan Harris will be in attendance.

Following the reading there will be a reception featuring authentic Nigerian food and music!
