Description

Set against the sun-bleached grit of California coast, Crime 101 weaves the tale of Mike, an elusive jewel thief (Chris Hemsworth) whose string of heists along the 101 freeway have mystified police. As Mike plots his next move, one that could result in walk away money, , his path crosses that of a disillusioned insurance broker (Halle Berry) who is facing her own crossroads. Meanwhile a relentless detective (Mark Ruffalo) is closing in on Mike’s movements, and a former associate has sent a volatile criminal (a scene stealing Barry Keoghan) to destroy Mike’s plans. Director Bart Layton wrings tension from every frame as the line between hunter and hunted begins to blur. As these four lives collide, each individual’s morality and endurance will be pushed to the brink.

Adapted from Don Winslow’s acclaimed novella of the same name, the film is written and directed by Layton (American Animals, The Imposter). Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Nick Nolte round out the cast.
