These 3-5 minute animation is jam-packed with important civic messages that explain how governmental laws and guidelines actually affect the everyday lives of kids. Many of the songs encourage young people to become engaged in active citizenship by learning more about the U.S. government and working in their own communities. This guide is intended to flexibly support educators and families alike with creative hands-on activities to share with students.

Learning about the lives of people experiencing homelessness with ‘Lead Me Home’

This short documentary directed by Jon Shenk (An Inconvenient Sequel) and Pedro Kos (The Great Hack) captures the lives and stories of people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. By weaving a tapestry of diverse individual stories with evocative details of contemporary urban life, the short aims to understand this issue from the perspective of those surviving the ever-growing social crisis. This guide is intended to flexibly support educators and families alike with creative hands-on activities to share with students.

Learning about medical research and direct action with ‘Fauci’

Fauci is a glimpse into the life and legacy of Anthony Fauci, the Infectious Disease Specialist and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID). A world- renowned infectious disease specialist and the longest-serving public health leader in Washington, D.C., he has overseen the U.S. response to 40 years’ worth of outbreaks, including HIV/ AIDS, SARS and Ebola. Taught in conjunction with this guide, this documentary offers personal insight into medical research and direct action activism that illuminates a path forward toward health justice.

The Art & Science of Lucasfilm: ILM Art Department

This presentation marks the 13th year of our long running collaborative educational series in which experienced professionals from Lucasfilm talk about their educational journeys and the career path that led them to where they are today. Our look at the ILM Art Department will feature Senior Concept Artist Tyler Scarlet, who will discuss designing creatures and characters for films such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Kong: Skull Island, and Ready Player One, just to name a few. He also has experience creating concept art for TV, theme parks, and VR.
