SFFILM Education: Documentary Workshop for Teens

SFFILM Education will host Darren Foster and Cristina Constantini, directors of the recent film Science Fair, for a documentary workshop for teens ages 13–18. Taking a deeper look at documentary interviewing and production techniques, Foster and Constantini will lead students on the best way to find interesting stories and capture captivating interviews. The filmmakers will show clips from Science Fair and give a presentation on their respective careers in journalism and filmmaking.

Students will have the chance to ask the directors about their careers and any advice for getting started in journalism. For more hands-on experience, students will learn the fundamentals of how to best conduct personal interviews with subjects, and the best way to report them. Foster and Constantini will teach students how to use camera and sound equipment to capture documentary interview subjects.

This workshop runs for 90 minutes and is open to students age 13–18; space is extremely limited.
