The Journey of Tonko House, from The Dam Keeper to Moom
Description
Animation’s growing popularity over the years has been remarkable, with new big studio releases regularly earning over $400 million at the worldwide box office. But where does the independent animation studio fit into all of this? In 2014, former Pixar artists Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi founded Bay Area-based Tonko House, one of the most innovative and exciting new studios in the business. With an Academy Award nomination already under its belt for their debut, The Dam Keeper (Golden Gate Award SFIFF 2014), Tonko House is well on its way to successfully creating memorable stories that stir our emotions and push the boundaries of what animation can accomplish. Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at the studio with cofounder Robert Kondo, as he discusses Tonko House’s newest film Moom and takes a look at some exciting new projects just on the horizon.
