Festival
The San Francisco Film Society’s Colleges & Universities program presents the fourth annual College Days program at the 56th San Francisco International Film Festival (April 25-May 9). This specially curated three-day series (May 3-5) for Bay Area college students includes screenings of five Festival films (The Kill Team, They’ll Come Back, After Lucia, Rent a Family Inc. and Tall as the Baobab Tree) and Q&As with filmmaker guests. All screenings and discussions will take place at Sundance Kabuki Cinemas at 1881 Post Street in San Francisco. The complete program is being offered for just $45 per student.
Tickets for the program are available for select college students and may only be purchased through the SFFS Education office by contacting education@sffs.org or 415-561-5042. SFIFF College Days tickets cannot be purchased through the regular Festival box office. Faculty members may also participate, if they attend with their students.
As part of the College Days program, San Francisco State University is offering a one-unit weekend course in the 2013 spring semester entitled “Film Festivals, Archives and Movements in the San Francisco Bay Area,” taught by professor Aaron Kerner. The class will explore the rich and diverse film culture of the Bay Area, including film societies, archives and established festivals, including SFIFF.
The Colleges & Universities program is run by the Film Society’s Education department and was created to support and encourage students as they prepare to transition from the academic arena to the professional world. Offering an array of creative, educational, social, financial and professional opportunities, it is a valuable bridge that connects and engages students with the Film Society and the Bay Area filmmaking community.
