Five New Feature Films Added to SFFILM Screening Room; Now Available for Streaming

Aug 3, 2017

SFFILM

San Francisco, CA — SFFILM has announced the lineup of new films premiering on the SFFILM Screening Room, the curated film streaming service available exclusively to SFFILM members through an easy-to-use web platform and mobile app. Five new feature films have joined the already robust slate of titles on the service, and are now available to stream. There are currently 20 acclaimed films to choose from on the service, with additional titles being added each month.

The SFFILM Screening Room service is available to SFFILM members on the web at sffilm.org/watch. Members can also access films and supplemental content by downloading the SFFILM app and logging into their membership accounts. The SFFILM app is available for iOS, Apple TV, and Android devices as a free download on iTunes or Google Play. The web platform and app have been created with the generous support of Margaret and Will Hearst.

FEATURE FILMS ADDED AUGUST 1

The Dinner
Ivano De Matteo (Canada 2014, 92 min.)
Based on the New York Times bestselling novel, The Dinner turns an ordinary meal among family into a taut morality play as the limits of polite society are tested and two brothers discover just how little they know about each other.

To Kill A Man
Alejandro Fernández Almendras (Chile 2014, 81 min.)
Hardworking family man Jorge is just barely making ends meet. When a neighborhood delinquent goes on the warpath and terrorizes his family, Jorge has no choice but to take justice into his own hands, and live with consequences. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for World Cinema at the Sundance Film Festival.

Grigris
Mahamat-Saleh Haroun  (France/Chad 2013, 101 min.)
Despite a bum leg, 25-year-old Grigris has hopes of becoming a professional dancer, making some extra cash putting his killer moves to good use on the dance floor of his local club every weekend. When his step-father falls critically ill and he’s forced to turn to oil smuggling to earn much needed money, all his aspirations are put in peril.

If You Don’t, I Will
Sophie Fillières (France 2013, 102 min.)
The extraordinary Emmanuelle Devos and Mathieu Amalric give fascinating, just-off-center performances as a longtime couple who’ve fallen awkwardly out of rhythm and possibly out of love. A hike in the forest leads to a fork in the road in this quietly resonant romance-on-the-rocks strewn with droll one-liners.

Stations of the Cross
Dietrich Brüggemann (Germany 2014, 110 min.)
Told in 14 fixed-angle, single shot, individual tableaus that parallel Christ’s journey to his own crucifixion, Stations of the Cross is both an indictment of fundamentalist faith and the articulation of an impressionable teen’s struggle to find her own path in life. Winner of the Silver Bear for Best Script at the Berlin International Film Festival.
