Description
Join us for the West Coast premiere of writer and director Raven Jackson’s debut narrative feature which opened at Sundance and will screen next at the New York Film Festival.
A lyrical, decades-spanning exploration across a woman’s life in Mississippi, the feature debut from award-winning poet, photographer, and filmmaker Raven Jackson is a haunting and richly layered portrait, a beautiful ode to the generations of people and places that shape us.
Raven Jackson is an award-winning filmmaker, poet, and photographer from Tennessee. A Cinereach and SFFILM grantee, her work often explores indefinable experiences and emotions, as well as the body’s relationship to nature, and has screened at San Sebastián, Metrograph, Indie Memphis, BAM, and elsewhere. Her short films Nettles and A Guide to Breathing Underwater are streaming on the Criterion Channel.
Academy Award winning filmmaker Barry Jenkins has directed three highly acclaimed features, Medicine for Melancholy, Moonlight and If Beale Street Could Talk, as well as his award-winning television series The Underground Railroad. Most recently, Jenkins produced Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun and Raven Jackson’s All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt. Upcoming work includes the 2024 theatrical release of Mufasa: The Lion King.
