Closing Night: “I’m A Virgo” (Series)
Guests Expected
Creator, Co-Showrunner, Executive Producer, Writer, Director Boots Riley
Description
Five years after his feature debut, Sorry to Bother You (2018), wowed Festival audiences, beloved local creative Boots Riley returns with a deliriously strange and joyful series that marks his first foray into episodic storytelling. Emmy-winning actor Jharrel Jerome (When They See Us) stars as Cootie, a 13-foot tall teenager kept hidden from the world for his entire life but now out and about and awestruck by modern-day Oakland. A wildly talented cast that includes Kara Young, Walton Goggins, Olivia Washington, Carmen Ejogo, and Mike Epps star in this exuberant show that is both a biting commentary on the paradoxes that plague modern society and a wide-eyed exploration of the wonder of being alive. Join us for a special screening of the first four episodes of I’m A Virgo.
