Golden Gate Awards Presentation

Description

The Golden Gate Awards were established in 1957 with Satyajit Ray as the inaugural recipient for his destined-to-be-classic first feature, Pather Panchali. The Golden Gate Awards are one way SFFILM fulfills an important Festival function – to increase the attention and resources given to independent filmmakers, and to support the development of international cinema.

We are proud that the Awards continue to help launch and support the early careers of internationally renowned narrative and documentary filmmakers, among them Nadav Lapid (Policeman, 2012), Michael Glawogger (Workingman’s Death, 2006), Stanley Nelson (Jonestown: The Life and Death of Peoples Temple, 2006), Sam Green (Lot 63, Grave C, 2006), Marlon Riggs (Tongues Untied, 1990), Kirsten Johnson (Cameraperson, 2016), and many others.
